Fr. Bibin CST and Mr. Anto Thomas set new standard for expeditionary prowess, advocating education and food waste reduction in Nepal
In a remarkable display of determination and purpose, Fr. Bibin CST, Director of Nepal Little Flower Society (NLFS) and and Mr. Anto Thomas, a dedicated social worker, have successfully completed the Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar Trek with a unique mission. Undertaken with the vision of promoting education for children in Nepal while minimizing food waste, their journey stands as a testament to social responsibility and adventure intertwined.
The journey commenced from the NLFS campus at Narayangarh on April 2nd, with the duo driving 470 kilometers to Tamdada over one and a half days. From there, the trek to Everest Base Camp commenced on April 3rd, with the team reaching Surke for a night halt after 3.5 hours of trekking. Over the following days, they traversed challenging terrain, including a steep climb from Surke to Namchebazar on April 4th, covering about 20 kilometers in 11 hours.

Pushing through adversity, they trekked from Namchebazar to Pengoche on April 5th, climbing three steep mountains along the way, and continued on to Goraksheep on April 6th, paying respects to the memorials of Everest climbers and the statue of Charapati Shivaji.

On April 7th, they embarked on the final stretch, trekking to Kalapathar at an impressive height of 5644 meters, before descending to Everest Base Camp at 5364 meters. Their descent commenced on the same day, with overnight stays in Peruche and Banke before reaching Tamdada on April 9th.
What’s truly astonishing is the speed at which they accomplished this feat. Completing the ascent in a mere 3 days and 6 hours, a journey that typically spans 7 days, they have set a new standard for expeditionary prowess. Throughout their arduous journey, they actively advocated for education for children in Nepal and the reduction of food waste, spreading their message to all they encountered.
Fr. Bibin and Mr. Anto epitomize the spirit of adventure intertwined with noble causes. Their trek serves as a beacon of inspiration for those who aspire to combine their passions for adventure with meaningful societal impact.
